In 1861, the Romanian ruler A.I. Cuza revived the local textile industry in the middle of 19th century by building, in Bucharest, some manufacturing workshops for apparel, which were, later on, turned into a regular factory.

Defying the destiny that had brought many wars upon it, the factory was extended in 1949 and completed with a few new buildings between 1965 and 1976 so that in 1980 about 18,000 employees were working on this platform.

After 1990, unable to preserve those capacities in a market economy, the factory is divided into several companies, among which SAMRIC S.A. is the best-known producer of men’s garments.

Having to deal with tough competition, SAMRIC S.A. has asserted itself on the market due to its permanent desire of improving quality by acquiring new equipment and by specializing its personnel.

Today, SAMRIC S.A. exports about 98% of its capacity and the products are highly appreciated both on the European market, in countries like Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, and in the United States of America.
